Privacy policy

Hidden Camera Detector analyzes magnetic readings and shows a live camera preview on your phone. The app does not upload those readings or camera images. It uses Google AdMob to serve ads, which may collect data as described below.

What the app accesses

The magnetic detector reads your phone’s magnetometer to show a live field strength and compare it with a baseline. The infrared screen asks for camera permission to show a live preview. The app does not record, save, or upload camera images, video, or magnetic readings. Camera access stops when you leave the infrared screen.

Information stored on your device

The app saves your language choice and whether onboarding is complete. These preferences remain on your device and are not included in device backups by the app. You can clear them by clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling it.

Advertising and third-party data

Google AdMob displays a banner in the detector screen and may show interstitial ads after onboarding and after calibration. To provide ads, Google’s Mobile Ads SDK may collect or process device identifiers, IP address (which can indicate approximate location), ad interactions, app interactions, and diagnostic information. AdMob’s collection and use of data are governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and its Mobile Ads SDK data disclosure. The app does not pass scan readings or camera images to the ads SDK.

Where required, the app asks for ad consent using Google’s User Messaging Platform before requesting ads. If an ad privacy option is available for your region, you can revisit it from Settings → Ad privacy choices. Ads may be unavailable when consent or a network connection is unavailable.

Sharing

If you tap “Share alert,” Android opens its share sheet with the current magnetic reading and time. You choose whether to send it and which app receives it. Hidden Camera Detector does not share alerts automatically.

Children

The app is designed as a general utility and is not directed at children. If you believe a child’s information has been collected through ads, please contact us using the link below.

Your choices

• Control camera permission in Android Settings.
• Manage available ad privacy choices in the app’s Settings screen.
• Reset local preferences by clearing app storage or uninstalling the app.
• Review Android and Google controls for personalized advertising on your device.

We may update this policy when app features or advertising practices change. The effective date above identifies the current version. For questions about this app, use the project’s GitHub issue page. Please do not post sensitive personal information in a public issue.
